Frequently asked questions.

Are your fees covered by Medicare Rebate or the Mental Health Care Plan?

Unfortunately no. The Medicare Rebate is not accessed by registered counsellors or psychotherapists. I keep my fees close to the amount you will be out of pocket, so the amount you pay is comparable to what you pay to see psychologists, occupational therapists or mental health social workers gap fees. You do not need a Mental Health Care Plan to see me.

Do I need a referral for Counselling?

No

Do you have Provider Number for Private Health Insurance?

Yes I do! As a clinically registered counsellor, I hold a provider number for Bupa, Medibank, AHM and the ARHG (St Luke’s Health, Police Health, GMHBA, Westfund, Emergency Services Health, Phoenix Health, CUA Health, AIA Health AIA Health and Teachers Union Health).

This means that you might be able to access a private health rebate through your private health insurance. You will need to contact your health fund to check if you are eligible for rebates through your extras cover. The provider number will be on your invoice.

What is Neurodiversity-Affirming practice?

The term Neurodiversity-Affirming practice refers to attitudes, beliefs, approaches and polices which welcome, accept, and embrace the diversity of neurological differences in people. This is done in such a way that the person will feel valued, respected, included and accepted as they are and for their unique strengths, experiences and viewpoint. People who are Autistic, ADHDers, Dyslexic, Synesthetes, (plus many other neurodevelopmental conditions) are included under the Neurodivergent umbrella term. I aim to accommodate and adjust for neurocognitive differences and am non-pathologizing. I also understand that neurodivergent traits manifest differently for each person. I respect and value everyone’s expression and experience.

I believe that it is our differences that make us stronger as a society and as individuals. I welcome and support each person to find their own individual path towards good mental health and wellbeing.

How do I choose a Therapist?

I recommend checking out Esther Perel’s blog on this topic! In summary, she says you should consider your reasons for therapy and what you would like to work on. Then look at therapists who are the most experienced in your area of need and who you can afford. (Search “How to find the right therapist for you Esther Perel” if you are interested to read more). Make sure the therapist is registered and insured too!

Do you see clients online?

Yes! I see clients face to face at my Private Practice based in Thornlands in Redland City. I also see clients online via Zoom and Telehealth appointments. Please contact me to book yourself a session.

Do you see International clients?

Yes! I work with people online for therapy (timezone differences can restrict availabilities) who live overseas. I am unable to work with clients who live in Canada and the United States of America due to my insurance cover.

What method of payment do you take?

My preferred mode of payment is bank fund transfers/direct deposit. Payments will be discussed during our phone consultation prior to your first session.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?
